What is the optimum number of "touches" in a marketing campaign for the best results?

This assumes that each prospect "touch", whether is is an email, phone call, letter or whatever is the best it can be.

4-7 Less you aren’t seen enough, more you’re annoying.

    For a mass communication result it is better to use ads. Other wise personal selling, direct marketing in general.
    If you have good budget then sponsorship is prestigous and effective.
