If you will be hiring a firm, you will want to draft a document that defines what type of scope of services that you will want that firm to provide? Do you need a positioning and competitive strategy? Do you need a business plan? Do you need branding or collateral? Have you identified your points of difference? How important will trade shows, PR, advertising, direct selling or internet lead generation be to securing customers? Different vendors will be able to provide varying levels of expertise in each approach.
