swimming with shorts over my trunks for the extra weight – pros and cons?
hi! i’m self-training now for a race on august, and i’m swimming with basketball shorts over my trunks for the extra weight during training. i’m hoping i’d feel much lighter on race day when i swim just with the trunks on.
however, when i trained with a team back in college, our coach made us do this only a couple of times. are there any disadvantages with training like this?

Yes, drag suits work well (or shorts, in your case) for training like that. My coach makes the team wear tights and shirts over/under our suits every day in practice, and we aren’t allowed to practice without them.
I don’t know of any disadvantages of doing this, except for depending on the bagginess of the shorts, they may get in the way of your stroke. For me, just by wearing tights and shorts my stroke started getting sloppier in practice.
