In Maryland, are type 5 pfd’s allowed to be used for driving a jetski?
I just bought a jet ski and im looking to buy a new life jacket. Type 5 PFD’s (Personal Flotation Devices) have a lot more room to move when you are wearing it than a type 3 or 2 PFD. However i realize that only certain activities are permitted for the use of a type 5 PFD, is driving a jetski one of them?
NO, in Maryland only type 1, 2, or 3 pfd’s are required to be warn on PWC’s (jet ski).

type v life jackets are designed for low speed boating including paddling sports sailing and low speed boating (up to 50mph) they are not designed for PWC’s or other high speed activities like water skiing. at higher speed water Impact they may be torn off of the individual. my advise is to purchase a close fitting ski vest with a 100mph speed rating.
